ISSA Award for India: EPFO Shines

Neha Baruah
Neha Baruah
The self-proclaimed queen of words at "Ki Hikila." When she's not busy rearranging the alphabet to create "masterpieces," she's probably on her 17th cup of coffee, pretending that writer's block is a myth. Neha's been telling stories since she could talk (and hasn’t stopped since), and she’s convinced that her wit is sharper than her editing skills. If you're looking for tales sprinkled with sarcasm and a dash of "I could have written that better," Neha's your go-to author.

India has been honored with the prestigious ISSA Good Practice Award for Asia and Pacific 2024 at the Regional Social Security Forum held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) earned this recognition for its innovative initiatives and received five Certificates of Merit for its exceptional contributions.

Enhanced Communication Channels

EPFO has implemented a robust communication strategy using tools such as webinars, SMS, emails, and social media platforms. The initiative, “Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0,” organizes district-level camps to educate members effectively and improve outreach.

E-Proceedings for Transparency

By transitioning its judicial inquiry process to an online platform, EPFO has ensured greater transparency and fairness. This digital transformation has significantly reduced delays in compliance-related processes.

Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0 Programme

This monthly program, conducted on the 27th of every month, brings EPFO services closer to the public. It provides a platform for members, pensioners, and employers to resolve grievances on-site, offering greater convenience.

Multilingual Call Centers

To address India’s linguistic diversity, EPFO established call centers in 12 regional languages. This inclusive approach ensures that members can communicate in their preferred language, enhancing grievance redressal efficiency.

Prayaas Initiative

The Prayaas initiative focuses on issuing pension payment orders (PPOs) on the day of retirement. This timely service improves the retirement experience for employees, with a steady increase in PPOs issued under this initiative.

Digital Life Certificate Programme

EPFO received special recognition for its Digital Life Certificate programme, which allows pensioners to submit life certificates digitally using Aadhaar-based biometric authentication. This innovation simplifies the process for pensioners, making it more accessible and convenient.

Commitment to Excellence

These awards underscore EPFO’s dedication to modernizing operations and adopting global best practices. The recognition serves as a driving force for EPFO to continue enhancing member services and delivering impactful initiatives.
