As an extended-range evolution of its predecessor, the ULPGM-V2, this version boasts enhancements such as an imaging infrared (IIR) seeker and a dual-thrust propulsion system, delivering improved accuracy, range, and operational versatility on the battlefield.

Indigenous Development and Innovation

The missile has been entirely designed and developed within India by DRDO’s Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), along with contributions from various Indian defence startups, MSMEs, and industry partners. All critical components—including propulsion, guidance systems, and warheads—are indigenously manufactured, aligning with the national mission of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) in defence production. This collaborative model showcases India’s rapidly maturing defence manufacturing ecosystem.

NOAR, Kurnool: A Hub for High-Tech Trials

The National Open Area Range (NOAR) is emerging as a strategic site for testing advanced defence technologies. In addition to missile systems like the ULPGM-V3, NOAR has been the testbed for Directed Energy Weapons (DEWs) and anti-drone systems. The successful demonstration of ULPGM-V3 at this facility underscores India’s investment in creating world-class testing infrastructure to support indigenous innovation.
